My paintings are colorful I love colors, I try to reflect my culture through my art work that why i present women a lot in it . Our Sudanese Community is based on extended family but I express it in my own way
Painting and colors were a constant theme in my childhood. very first time drawing, i was 4 years old. My mother preserved it for many many years. always passionate about colors to this day. often inspired to paint Sudanese women in various forms, magnifying the uniqueness of Sudanese culture. In most of my drawings, green is a sign of fertility, gold is beauty, adornment, and ornament; Red symbolizes honor, within the context of our conservative society, it is linked to set of social traditions passed on through generations. Through one of my paintings, i illustrate various elements within the Sudanese society. depicting male dominance. often times they are leaders of an extended family. by contrast woman undertake the role of caretakers, embracing children, whilst father figures bend in most cases, not as much as the mother In different painting, I describe women’s relationship with society, trying to represent 3 women from different geographical areas in Sudan, depicting them symbolically n green, to illustrate fertility. Gold to express beauty, with two men besides her. whilst red, as a sign of honor. in sudanese society, men view women from a very reserved view point. In my very last painting, I took inspiration from the features of my grandmother, I painted the face of a Sudanese woman with tattoos, on her face and lips, the traditional Sudanese dress, as well as her hair that is unique to women of northern Sudan.
