A member of the Sudanese Resistance committees is one individual who collaborates with others in different bodies formed to support the peaceful revolutionary movement against the military regime in Sudan. Many Sudanese people consider them revolutionary hope and protectors because civilian parties are weak and have already signed failed agreements with the military to share power. The Sudanese revolution started in 2018 against Omar Elbashir’s regime then in 2019 the parties signed an agreement to share power between civilians and the military. This agreement failed in 2021 after the military took a huge step by a military coup. The agreement was signed in 2019 after the military made a tragic massacre known as (the massacre of the general command)when more than 120 people were found dead by military and RSF soldiers. In October 2021 military party broke the political agreement by carrying out a complete military coup. Since then thousands of Sudanese people protest peacefully in the streets regularly. This movement is guided by RC and their main goal is to transfer the power from military to civilian government. Part of them started in 2013, way before the revolution started in 2018. Although many committees were formed before, the largest number was formed after the revolution. Most of the members are young generation aged (18-40). Musab Banakhi is one of the RC; he is 30 years old lives in Khartoum. I met him through a friend of mine, and I did an interview with him because he joined RC early in 2013. I asked him to introduce himself; he said “I am a regular guy. I love football and enjoy watching movies, but my country situation forced me to ask for change we can live like this anymore! “ he added,” I started my political pathway a long time ago when I was 13 in my small village. I supported the workers against my own family “at the time; I thought justice was more important than supporting my family “after that, I always supported freedom. Then I started asking In more depth, how did the idea of the resistance committees start and when? Starting in 2011 he answered the Communist Party’s proposal, and the consensus forces’ approval of bodies within neighborhood committees to participate. the first resistance committees established in Sudan are Jabra committees 2021, civil committees, 2013, etc. He added my own experience is bitter I was arrested many times since 2013 only for a few days but the longest time was in 2019 for 35 days and I came out on the same day Omar Elbashir fell on the 6 of April. I asked him What did you feel after the political agreement between the military component was signed in 2019?
I was sad, I remember that I cried because I refused to start partnering with the military in authority, and I knew the magnitude of the challenges in the next stage.
He added
I knew this is temporary
the military forces after that continued nonpeaceful suppression of protesters according to the Sudanese Doctors committee dozens of people were killed and faced violence from security forces. I asked what is the plan of the current resistance committees in resistance? He said,” Resistance to the military coup is fierce by devoting all our experience gained over the years with the creation of new tactics in methods of non-violent resistance.” My final question was what is your message to the world, especially in western countries? He answered “Our message to the world’s governments is that we are a new generation who want to end the dictatorship of darkness. I think everyone must support us in the journey of peaceful Defence to establish the principles of democracy and preserve human rights and living. especially western leaders “
